The European Commission has told member states to let it know by next week how much climate funding they can give as talks on the EU’s position for the Paris climate summit get underway.

The figures on climate funding for the period 2015-2017 will be necessary to reassure other countries that the EU remains committed to reaching the collective pledge by industrialised countries to provide $100bn annually by 2020, Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said on Friday.
