Ministers have yet to agree on the ambition level of a new global climate agreement as UN talks entered their final stretch, French foreign minister Laurent Fabius indicated on Wednesday.

Other outstanding political issues include climate financing for poor countries and differentiating between the responsibilities of developed and developing countries, he said.

Mr Fabius, who chairs the two-week Paris summit aiming to produce a new climate agreement by the end of the week, presented a new shorter negotiating text to ministers on Wednesday. It reduced the number of undecided points in brackets by three-quarters.
