The EU will officially ratify the Paris Agreement on climate change this week after it received the backing of the vast majority of MEPs on Tuesday.

The vote in the European Parliament’s plenary session, with 610 in favour, 38 against and 31 abstentions, paves the way for the agreement’s entry into force less than a year after it was signed.
