MEPs have called for a ban on bisphenol-A (BPA) in all food contact materials (FCM) after a report on the risks for foetuses and infants triggered a future ongoing review by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
The call to ban BPAs in FCMs came as MEPs met at the European Parliament to vote on a non-legislative report about implementing the EU FCM Regulation tabled by Christel Schaldemose (S&D), rapporteur for the Parliament’s environment committee (ENVI).
