Hundreds of companies have committed to installing only new equipment with natural or alternative refrigerants with low global warming potential as part of international efforts to phase down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

The announcement, which relates to around 400 firms, came ahead of next week’s meeting of governments in Rwanda to conclude a global agreement on phasing down the use of HFCs under the Montreal Protocol.
