Industry committee MEPs called for revising the EU’s 2030 landfill target down to 5% as they voted on their recommendation for the European Commission’s circular economy proposals on Thursday.

By 2025, the Commission must examine its proposed target to limit the landfilling of municipal waste to 10% by 2030 with a view to reducing it to 5%, the European Parliament’s industry committee said. The revision should be guided by an impact assessment, it added.
