The compulsory 40% energy efficiency target proposed by the European Parliament for 2030 would boost investment in the sector and better reflect the EU climate pledges under the Paris Agreement, an industry-NGO coalition has said.
The European Alliance to Save Energy (EU-ASE) is championing the 40% target, backed by the Parliament’s industry committee and a plenary vote, over the less ambitious 27-30% figures preferred by the European Commission and EU Council.
