Italy’s government has approved plans for the largest coordinated expansion in energy-from-waste in the country’s history, which would increase national capacity by nearly one-third.
Under a recently approved decree eight large new EfW plants should be built. All will be constructed in central and southern regions where there is currently little capacity and long-running problems with municipal waste management.
