The world is on track for global warming of 3.4°C, with only three years left before the window closes for keeping temperature rise below 1.5°C, UNEP warned on Thursday.

Enhancing emission reductions before 2020 is “likely the last chance to keep the option of limiting global warming to 1.5°C in 2100 open”, UNEP’s annual Emissions Gap Report warned. It would also increase the likelihood of countries meeting their emissions reduction pledges under the Paris Agreement of last December, it added.
