LIFE Programme to get 6.7% funding boost

Proposals from the European Commission to increase the budget for the LIFE Programme to €493m in 2017, up 6.7% from €462m in 2016, have been backed by the EU Council and European Parliament

The European Commission proposal to increase the budget for the LIFE Programme to €493m in 2017, up 6.7% from €462m in 2016, has been backed by the EU Council and European Parliament.

Both institutions supported the funding increase as part of their agreement on the EU budget for 2017 early on Thursday. The decision will now need to be formally ratified by either side before it is adopted.
