Particle pollution continued to exceed EU limits in large parts of Europe in 2014 despite air quality improvements, the latest figures from the European Environment Agency (EEA) showed on Wednesday

The EEA reported “significant decreasing trends” in the annual mean of particulate matter PM10 emissions for 75 % of official monitoring stations in the period 2000–2014. But the latest data for 2014 showed that concentrations above the EU’s daily limit value were still registered in 21 out of the 28 member states.
