France will push the EU for a European minimum carbon price and border tariff to help incentive green investment, Emmanuel Macron has said.

Addressing an EU high-level conference on sustainable finance the French president said carbon pricing was one of the “essential battles” Europe would have to wage in the coming years.

Progress had been through the European ETS, he said, but more must be done. Without sufficient price incentives investor behaviour would not change, he said.
