The European Commission’s proposal to restrict the use of disposable plastic products will be treated as a matter of priority by the EU Council and European Parliament, according to environment commissioner Karmenu Vella.
Vella made the announcement at an EU Council environment meeting today. At the Monday meeting he briefed ministers on five regulations proposed by the Commission, including the LIFE programme, water reuse, single-use plastics, the pollinators initiative, and the alignment of environmental reporting obligations.
