The European Commission has successfully completed all the elements of its energy union package to further integrate Europe’s energy markets, vice-president Maroš Šefcovic announced on Tuesday.
“The energy union has become reality,” Šefcovic told reporters. When the Commission first proposed its political strategy in 2014, many observers believed it was too ambitious, he said. “But today I am very proud to say that we delivered, because we promised to provide Europe with energy which is secure, sustainable, competitive as well as affordable.”
