MEPs and European mayors have called for an EU-wide ban on non-agricultural uses of pesticides

MEPs and European mayors have called for an EU-wide ban on non-agricultural uses of pesticides.

The declaration by six European legislators and and 13 local mayors calls on EU institutions to begin discussions on a full ban of non-agricultural, including private, pesticide use.

The politicians called for the European Commission to enable the use of financial instruments to support EU towns to bceom pesticide free.

The declaration was signed at an event at the European Parliament on Thursday organised by members of the centre-left S&D group and campaign group Pesticide Action Network Europe (PAN).
