Commission ‘disregards gravity of dieselgate’ says MEP

The author of the European Parliament's inquiry report on dieselgate has accused the EU Commission of disregarding the gravity of the scandal after it failed to respond to MEPs

The author of the European Parliament's inquiry report on dieselgate has accused the EU Commission of disregarding the gravity of the scandal after it failed to respond to MEPs by their 18-month deadline.

Dutch liberal ALDE group member Gerben-Jan Gerbrandy, who co-authored the report which came out of the Parliament’s special committee EMIS published in December 2016, said the executive’s failure to meet the Thursday deadline was not only “a great disregard of the democratic control and supervisory powers of the European Parliament”, but also “completely disregards the gravity of dieselgate”.
