Ministers urged to back pro-climate EU budget

The EU's trillion-euro annual budget must be aligned with the bloc's climate and energy objectives and international commitments, groups representing business, civil society and local authorities have said in an open letter to government ministers.

Government ministers are due to discuss on 16 October a proposed multiannual financial framework (MFF) for 2021-2027, in which the European Commission has proposed ring-fencing 25% of EU spending for measures that address climate change.
