Campaigners gave a qualified welcome to suggested amendments to the European Commission’s proposals on waste from ships agreed by MEPs on Tuesday, arguing they should have been tougher.
The European Parliament transport committee (TRAN) agreed to push for changes that green groups said would strengthen a regulation designed to reduce waste from ships, proposed in January as part of the executive’s plastics strategy.
