Climate campaigners have called on European leaders to act on their words after EU heads of government and state affirmed their commitment to review their emissions targets.
Member state leaders said at the European Council on Thursday that last week’s IPCC special report “unequivocally confirms” the effects of climate change and that global emissions reductions were crucial to achieve the Paris goals.
In the conclusions of a summit once again dominated by migration, European leaders said all parties at COP24 in December must commit to review the ambition of their nationally determined contributions (NDCs), as agreed in Paris.
