France has prohibited the use of metam sodium pesticides for three months after dozens of farmworkers and residents in western France fell ill in four separate outbreaks, the agriculture ministry announced on Friday.

“This suspension is in effect pending the outcome of a review of the conditions and mode of use of these products, requested from the Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) on 10 July,” the ministry said.
