Building up Europe’s fleet of electric vehicles could help integrate more renewable power into Europe’s grid and deliver huge cost savings for system operators, as well as decarbonising the transport sector, a report suggests.
If the rollout of electric vehicles is “properly managed”, the UK could cut €1.3 billion a year, Italy €1.26 billion, France €1.21 billion and Spain €560 million off the cost of a transition to renewable energy, according to research commissioned by green group Transport & Environment (T&E).
