Tackling climate change will be the top priority for the next Spanish government, acting prime minister Pedro Sánchez said yesterday, after receiving a mandate from Spain’s head of state King Felipe VI to negotiate a majority in the Spanish parliament.

Sánchez, leader of the socialist party (PSOE), called on opposition groups to enable the swift formation of a new government “to tackle the challenges which the country faces, in first place the ecological transition and the mitigation of and adaptation to climate change”.
