MEPs call for action on air pollution

The European Parliament’s environment committee has called for more action from the EU and member states on air pollution.

The European Parliament’s environment committee has called for more action from the EU and member states on air pollution.

MEPs on the committee adopted a motion for a resolution in response to the ‘clean air for all’ communication adopted by the European Commission in May outlining measures to support member states to tackle air pollution. The committee’s motion will now go before a full plenary session of the Parliament.

The Commission has referred six member states to the European Court of Justice for breaching air quality limits and not taking appropriate measures to reduce exceedance periods.
