Emissions of air pollutants from road vehicles that “significantly harm our health and the environment”, need to be “drastically reduced without delay”, according to an Austrian EU Council presidency document prepared ahead of a third round of interinstitutional negotiations scheduled for 4 December.

"In order to contribute to the Paris Agreement objectives” and in the light of a recent IPCC report , “the transformation of the transport sector towards zero emissions needs to be accelerated", the text reads.
