The UK government has come under fire over its preparations for a ‘green Brexit’, with environmental campaigners suggesting new legislation could undermine EU protections.

ClientEarth and the Marine Conservation Society have said that ministers would be able to lower protection for wildlife under new EU exit regulations. Seals, otters, dolphins and seabirds could be at risk, they argue – breaching the government’s promise to maintain EU standards.
