The EU is struggling to meet the UN sustainable development goals for climate action, biodiversity and resource use, according to official figures provided by Eurostat

The EU is struggling to meet the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) for climate action, biodiversity and resource use, according to official figures provided by Eurostat.

While stronger economic performance over the past five years has helped the bloc make good progress on many of its SDGs, it has also led to increases in natural resource use, waste production and energy consumption.

“Movement away from the sustainable development objectives occurred in specific areas of a number of goals,” Eurostat notes.
