The trade association PlasticsEurope has failed in a bid to reverse the classification of bisphenol-A (BPA) by EU regulators as a 'substance of very high concern' on the grounds of its reprotoxicity.

The industry lobbyists brought the case in 2017 shortly after a committee of national government delegates in the European Chemicals Agency agreed to include the plastic additive on its 'candidate list' of substances subject to stricter controls and, potentially. prohibition by default.
