Some groups in the European Parliament are planning to draft a resolution by September calling on the next European Commission to promote or mandate the setting up of low emissions zones in European cities, ENDS has learned.

“The aim is to put pressure on the new Commission,” an official said after MEPs debated the issue on Wednesday, with representatives of the EU executive and the Council invited by the Socialists & Democrats group to state their positions on the issue.
