The European Commission has produced a plan to step up the EU’s efforts to tackle global deforestation and promote the recovery of degraded forest ecosystems

The European Commission has produced a plan to step up the EU’s efforts to tackle global deforestation and promote the recovery of degraded forest ecosystems. 

Presenting the EU executive’s communication on Tuesday morning, first vice-president Frans Timmermans said that while it would not be appropriate to propose new legislation before the next EU executive is approved, it is nevertheless “time to step up our efforts” to address the problem.
