The European Commission poured cold water on Thursday on any immediate plans to reinforce EU climate policy until the incoming executive runs first a fresh economic risk analysis updating the outlook from now until 2030.
“The only way we can have a climate strategy that works is if at the same time there is an economic strategy,” the head of the EU executive’s climate action directorate Mauro Petriccione told MEPs on the European Parliament’s environment committee.
