A plan to channel public investment into a green transition and climate protection to help re-launch Italy's economy is among 29 points in the programme agreed by its new coalition government, which was sworn in on Thursday in Rome.

The coalition, comprising the Democratic Party, the populist Five Star Movement and left-wing Free and Equal, was forged after the nationalist League pulled the plug on its governing alliance with the populist Five Star Movement in a bid to provoke fresh elections.
