Whether to revise upward the EU's emissions reduction target for 2030 remains a key bone of contention between one of Europe's most powerful corporate lobby groups and environmental campaigners.

At a panel discussion co-hosted by BusinessEurope with the Finnish EU Council presidency, which involved the campaign group WWF Europe, debate centred on the headline target of a 40% cut in CO2 output compared to 1990 levels, with disagreement over whether to maintain the target or make it more ambitious.
