The incineration for energy production of residual waste that is unsuitable for re-use or recycling and would otherwise be landfilled should be promoted along with other green technologies, trade associations argue as EU legislators seek to limit financial support.

The trade association European Suppliers of Waste-to-Energy Technology (ESWET) has called in a “2050 vision” paper for the recognition of waste-to-energy as a “sustainable waste management option”.
