The European Commission’s incoming economy chief Valdis Dombrovskis appeared on Tuesday to have passed his confirmatory hearing before the European Parliament, winning over Green lawmakers by arguing that tougher action to reduce CO2 emissions could boost Europe’s economy.

Greens/EFA group MEP Bas Eickhout asked Dombrovskis about the Commission’s sustainable finance package, and the central ‘taxonomy’ legislation defining economic activities according to their degree of sustainability, and plans for further legislative proposals.
