EU countries were among those from around the world that pledged almost $10bn to boost the world’s biggest climate fund.
Governments from 27 countries promised at a conference in Paris on Friday to top up the UN Green Climate Fund (GCF) which supports economically underdeveloped parts of the world to respond to the climate crisis.
Seven European countries, France, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway and Sweden and UK, confirmed commitments to double their previous contributions as demanded by campaigners, while others were criticised for missing the target.
