A long-awaited 2030 chemicals strategy may not be included in the Green New Deal promised by the incoming European Commission, consumer rights group BEUC has warned. 

The European consumers organisation wrote to first vice-president Frans Timmermans, who will take up responsibility for the Green New Deal in the next Commission, urging him to ensure that a “comprehensive” EU chemicals policy to 2030 is a core part of the policy.

“Disturbingly, this now appears to be put in question by parts of the Commission services,” the letter says.
