Global progress on energy efficiency declined for the third consecutive year in 2018, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Energy efficiency improved by just 1.2% in 2018, when measured through primary energy intensity, the Paris-based organisation has said in its latest report. That represents a decrease from the 1.7% improvement measured in 2017 and is well below the annual 3% rate the IEA considers necessary to reach the global climate goals.
