Portuguese green groups and opposition parties have criticised the country’s environment agency for approving an environmental impact statement for plans to build a second airport in Lisbon.
The Portuguese environment agency (APA) approval for the statement, which includes a €48m package of remedial measures, removes a major obstacle to building the airport and to a government-backed plan to double the capital’s air traffic to over 50 million passengers a year.
