Finance ministers from nine European countries have called on the incoming European Commission to “bring forward a proposal for an EU initiative on aviation pricing”.
While not providing details on how such a tax could work, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark and Bulgaria asked the EU executive to address the issue, given that aviation is the most carbon intensive mode of transport.
