The Balearic Islands regional administration has agreed with the Spanish government to suspend the application of a ban from 2025 on the sale and import of diesel cars in the archipelago until a national climate law is approved.

Spanish vehicle manufacturers have strongly opposed the ban, included in the regional climate change law approved in February, and the central government had indicated its intention to challenge it in Spain’s constitutional court.
