The European Court of Justice has handed a €5m fine to Ireland for failing to ensure that a wind farm in Derrybrien had an environment impact assessment (EIA), six years after construction started.
Ireland will also have to pay €15,000 per day to the European Commission until it complies with a 2008 ruling requiring it to assess the project’s impact, as set out under EU rules.
