The European Commission must phase out synthetic pesticides by 2035 while committing to restore biodiversity and support small scale and sustainable farming, more than 90 green groups have said.

The ‘Save Bees and Farmers’ European Citizens’ Initiative launched on Monday calls on the EU executive to table legislation to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides by 80% by 2030, starting with the most hazardous, with a full ban by 2035.
