The Commission will propose enshrining the 2050 climate neutrality objective in law, by March next year and present a 'comprehensive plan' to increase the current target of a 40% emissions cut by 2030 to 'at least' 50% and 'towards' 55% by October.
'The Commission will [something] the energy efficiency and renewable energy Directives by [some time]', reads the leaked document. – this is clearly a work in progress. It also suggests there could be changes on industrial strategy and new plans on circular economy by March, and ecodesign some time next year.
