UN warns travel industry over climate action

Travel businesses are at risk if they fail to respond to the climate emergency, a top UN climate diplomat has warned the industry.

Patricia Espinosa, executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), told the sector at the COP25 climate summit in Madrid: “change is possible if we make the difficult, sometimes necessary, decisions now".

“We are facing an emergency,'' Espinosa said, but changes can present “new business opportunities”, helping companies to differentiate from their competition. “If you fail to do this, you will have no business”.
