Campaigners welcome deal on EU green finance rules

All financial products labelled as ‘green’ should disclose their share of sustainable investments, according to a final deal reached by EU negotiators on the taxonomy regulation in the seventh round of interinstitutional talks on Monday.

All other financial products should include a disclaimer stating they are not screened for sustainability purposes, while large companies with more than 500 employees should also be subject to mandatory disclosure.

MEP Bas Eickhout MEP, Greens/EFA rapporteur on the file, said: "Finally we now have an agreement on taxonomy that will shift financial flows towards more sustainable economic activities,” setting a global precedent.
