Carmakers appeal for EU support for gas infrastructure

Auto and gas industry groups in Brussels have called on the EU to accelerate the deployment of refuelling infrastructure.

The call comes as ahead of the European Commission’s planned revision of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Directive (AFID).

Carmakers trade group ACEA, the Natural and bio Gas Vehicle Association (NGVA Europe) and the European Biogas Association said in a statement the EU should ensure natural gas infrastructure for vehicles should be expanded to cover the whole EU evenly. “As the number of CNG and LNG stations is growing steadily, Europe’s fuelling network has to be expanded to evenly cover the whole EU territory,” they said.
