Sinkevičius: ‘Green products must become the norm’

Environment commissioner Virginijus Sinkevicius has said encouraging truly sustainable products will be at the core of the new legislative proposals for the European Green Deal (EDG).

“The green deal is all about transformative change, and for that to happen, green products have to become the norm – at prices the people can afford,” Sinkevicius said during the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) plenary session on Thursday.

The commission will table a new framework for sustainable products as part of the new Circular Economy Action Plan, to be presented in March, to extend the lifecycle of all products placed on the EU market.
