European Commission: ‘Green’ hydrogen revolution needs fossil gas

The European Commission envisages meeting 14% of Europe’s energy needs by 2050 with hydrogen produced only from renewable power, but the hydrogen strategy unveiled on Wednesday raised questions about the role of natural gas in the transition phase.
