EU Ombudsman to examine Mercosur’s environmental impact

The European Ombudsman has accepted a request by environmental campaigners to investigate whether the European Commission took into account its legal obligation to run an environmental impact study before concluding trade talks with the Mercosur bloc of South American countries.
