MEPs upgrade EU emissions goal to 60% cut by 2030

MEPs in the environment committee have backed a greenhouse gas reduction target of 60% below 1990 levels, as anticipation grows that the European Commission is set to propose a 55% cut to pave the way towards a legally binding 2050 climate-neutrality objective.
